Isn't this time of year so exciting (and maybe even a little stressful as a Mom)! Halloween is on the horizon which means the holiday season will soon begin as soon as the clock strikes midnight (or maybe the alarm clock rings?!) on Nov 2nd!
Is it like whiplash for you too? It seems the world goes from spooky apple and pumpkin vibes strait into Christmas with Turkey Day just being a delicious - all be it under rated - bump in the road.
Now don't get me wrong - I'm all for Thanksgiving! And in my home we don't decorate for Christmas until the day AFTER we dive head-first into my Mom's delicious turkey or my Mother-In-Law's killer gravy!
...But like most of us out there, if I want to do something fun, like go cut down a Christmas Tree as family (I recommend Dull's Tree Farm in Thorntown, Indiana by the way) or have family photos done of our Christmas cards, I have to start planning WELL before The Sanderson Sisters rise from the grave on All Hallows Eve -- ya feel me, Sis? The holidays always always mean so much to do and so little time!
That said, I know you're most likely like me too, girl. Shaking your head - trying to figure out how it's all going to fit together.
Well Sis, let me let you in on a little secrets:
Having family photos done at the holidays is great - but most of your friends -- you know the ones will picture perfect holiday cards actually shot their family's Christmas photo in late fall. That's why shooting them before Thanksgiving is actually such a blessing! You have time to shoot the session, get the photos back AND get the Christmas cards ordered AND mailed out BEFORE Santa comes barreling down the chimney, ready or not!
So this year, let's make the most of fall and get your family's holiday session booked, prepped and ready to rock all before the gobbling starts! Deal?
Now don't get me wrong, there are some perks to waiting to shoot in December too if you're wanting the photos as gifts and NOT Christmas Cards... especially this year.
That's why I've gone ahead and added some extra December options this year as well. There's always that great last minute idea for a gift, and frankly with the news being what it is this year - family photos is something you'll be able to rely on as a gift, even if most of the selves are slim pickings (thanks to everything being stuck in the ports).
But I digress...

So this is something I've never done - offering two session types for the holidays, so I'm really excited to see how it goes!
I know young babies and some kiddos simply HATE the cold. They can't handle it and they end up grumpy and crying during Mom's dream Christmas card shoot. This is makes my heart ache for them and we usually keep working it to get the shot - but KNOWING THIS and knowing how Indiana's weather is notorious this time of year I also wanted to offer something a little different. An indoor studio option to help those families with tiny babies or super sensitive kiddos.
The Indoor Studio Set | November 14th & December 11th
The Outdoor Studio Set | November 13th & December 12th
We're also shooting in BOTH November and December 2021 and it's confirmed that SANTA is coming to town too!
So, whether the session is scheduled ahead for Christmas Cards or more of last minute festive splurge - you've got flexibility you need to find the best fit for you and your kiddos.
Santa is back this year to meet the kids and make sure their making the Nice List. Photos from last year's 2019 Christmas Mini Sessions.
The 2021 Christmas Mini Sessions are going to be shot on November 13th & 14th as well as December 11th & 12th. Santa will be available for all sessions.
Both the indoor and outdoor sets will be available during those times. Additionally, should weather impact any of the outside session, our families are welcome to utilize the prescheduled rain date option OR simply choose to shoot in our indoor studio set that day instead. Win/win.
