Spooky Fun & Family Memories: Halloween Adventures in Central Indiana 🎃
It’s finally that time of year! 🎃 The air is crisp, the leaves are turning golden and the excitement of Halloween is building all around town! 👻
It's such a great time of year to harness everyone's excitement to make family memories and do things together. But why limit the Halloween fun to just Oct 31st?
Here's a few momma tricks (or treats?! 😉) you can pull out of the bag to extend the fun all month long...
Psssssst. Grab the full spook-tacular 👻 list here.
Trust me — you don’t want to miss it!

1. Halloween Family Movie Night 🎬🍿
If there’s one thing we always look forward to during spooky season, it’s our Saturday night Family movie nights! And in October, that typically means Halloween Movies!
But of course age-appropriate options are SO important to keep things FUN and not too spookie this time of year. But dang can it be overwhelming trying to find the right fit. So I thought I'd help out a bit by doing some of the leg work for ya:
Toddler Halloween Shows/Movies
Curious George, No Noggin' (Amazon & Hulu)
Super Monsters (Netflix)
Room on the Broom (YouTube)
School Aged Kiddo Halloween Movies
Halloweentown
Casper
Hocus Pocus

2. Local Halloween Fun: Conner Prairie & Newfields 🎃👻
Central Indiana is the perfect place for some Halloween-themed outings! And there are SO MANY OPTIONS for families! I could spend a hole blog post on this, but instead I'll just share a few:
The Headless Horseman rides at Conner Prairie—Imagine the thrill of a spooky hayride through the night, catching glimpses of the Headless Horseman himself! It’s the perfect blend of eerie fun, and it's great for kiddos who are ready for a little scare (but nothing too intense). They also have littles-friendly hours earlier in the night for those who still want the fun, without the chase.
Newfields Harvest Nights—If you’ve never experienced the magic of their Jack-o-Lantern Walk, you’re in for a treat! Lit pumpkins line the paths, creating a gorgeous, glowing atmosphere that the kids absolutely adore.
And these are only TWO of the MANY things you can do! Grab the full list of Halloween Family Fun Ideas, for Central Indiana families here.
The memories and awe on the kids’ faces—makes it all worth every second! 😊
3. Halloween Themed Books for Bedtime 📚🎃 Routines
It seems like all educators agree that bedtime stories are an EXCELLENT way to both support child reading as well as family bonding night in and night out.
So cozying up under the covers with a good bedtime story is standard in our house - but come October, that means Halloween & Harvest themes come out in force! lol.
From adorable board books for toddlers that we re-read a million times to early reading chapter books that Ainz is currently loving, I've curated the perfect Halloween-themed reading list for the season and here are just a few:
Toddler Halloween Bedtime Stories
Where Do Diggers Trick or Treat by Brianna Sayres
Berenstain Bears: Trick or Treat by Stan & Jan Berenstain
Apples & Pumpkins by: Anne Rockwell
Early Reading Chapter Books For Halloween
The Magic Tree House: Mummies in the Morning by: Mary Osborne
Junie B. Jones: Boo and I Mean It by: Barbara Park
...but ya'll there are SOOOO MANY MORE and I've made a quick list to help for both toddler reads & kiddos. Totally Free, download some of my favorite must-reads titles that are guaranteed to get your kids in the Halloween spirit! 📖👻
