Family Photos: A Boy and His Dog on An Autumn Day

Fall in Indiana is something special—the crisp air, the vibrant colors, and the golden light that makes every moment feel timeless. As a Noblesville fall family photographer, it’s one of my favorite times of year to capture families in their current season of life. This session with Nicole, Kyle, Luke and their pup was the perfect example of why autumn river sides are such a dream for fall family portraits.

One of the best parts of this work is getting to see families grow over the years. I’ve had the privilege of photographing this family through many milestones - since Luke was 2 (!) and every time they step in front of my camera, it feels like catching up with old friends.

We shot this family mini session on the riverside in Noblesville during peak fall color and the backdrop could not have been more stunning. The leaves glowed in shades of gold and orange, the river added texture and movemen and the crisp air wrapped everything in that unmistakable autumn feel.

There’s nothing like the bond between a boy and his dog. Luke and his mom's working dog stole the show more than once, adding an extra layer of warmth and authenticity to the gallery. Pets bring such genuine emotion and fun to sessions, and I love when families include them! Especially when they are as loving and as well monored as this sweet pup!
