Fighting Off Summer Blues: 4 Activity Ideas
End of Summer Family Activities For Hamilton County Families
Summer has a funny way of sneaking by.
One minute you’re celebrating the last day of school and dreaming about everything your family is going to do together. The next, the school supply aisles have appeared, sports registrations are filling your inbox, and you can’t quite figure out where June and July disappeared.
If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably caught yourself thinking, “I wish we would have done more.”
More adventures. More evenings outside. More family time. More memories.
But here’s something I’ve been reminding myself lately: childhood isn’t measured by how many activities you squeezed into one summer.
Your children probably aren’t keeping score. They’re remembering how summer felt.
They’ll remember the night you unexpectedly stopped for ice cream. They’ll remember laughing together at the pool, staying outside until the fireflies came out, or eating sandwiches on a picnic blanket while watching squirrels chase each other through the park.

Those ordinary moments often become the extraordinary ones. The good news? Summer isn’t over yet.
If you live in Hamilton County or the surrounding communities of Westfield, Noblesville, Fishers, Carmel, Cicero, or Sheridan, there is still plenty of time to slow down and make a few more memories before the first school bell rings.
Here are four simple ideas that your family can still enjoy before summer comes to a close.
Cool Off with A Swim at Forest Park
August Hours & Details for Noblesville Community Pool
There is something magical about spending an afternoon at the pool.
Kids racing down the slide. Parents relaxing in the shade. The sound of splashing water mixed with laughter.
Even after school begins, Forest Park Aquatic Center in Noblesville offers extended hours on select evenings and weekends, giving families one last opportunity to soak up summer before the season officially ends.

Instead of heading home after work, surprise your kids with towels already packed in the car. Spend a few hours swimming, then grab pizza or pack a simple picnic dinner to enjoy afterward.
Sometimes the best family memories aren’t carefully planned—they’re spontaneous.
Want something with a little more flair? Try a night time $5 movie night float in the pool on July/29th @ 8pm.
Late Summer Pool Hours | August Pool Hours
Aug 1-12th: 12-6pm+
August 13th: Mon, Wed, Fri 4-7pm + Saturday and Sunday hours
Why I love it: It’s affordable, close to home, and feels like one final celebration of summer.

Say Yes to Ice Cream for Dinner
End of Summer Family Activities For Hamilton County Mommas
Just once. That’s all I’m suggesting.
As parents, we spend so much of our time saying no.
“No, not before dinner.” “No, it’s almost bedtime.” “No, maybe another day.”
But every once in a while, saying yes creates a memory your kids will tell for years.
Our family’s favorite place to celebrate little moments is Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream in Carmel , Noblesville or Fishers.
Whether everyone chooses a waffle cone, a milkshake, or your favorite seasonal flavor, there’s something about eating ice cream on a warm August evening that makes time slow down.
Will your children remember what you served for dinner on a random Tuesday?
Probably not.
Will they remember the night Mom surprised everyone with ice cream for dinner instead? There’s a pretty good chance they will.
Sometimes childhood magic is as simple as breaking the rules—just a little.

Spend a Day on Morse Reservoir
Cicero Pontoon Rentals Still Available For Weekdays & Weekends
Looking for something a little more? Morse Marina out of Cicero is still offering half day and full day boat rentals throughout August and as of today there is STILL PLENTY of weekday and WEEKEND dates available for families to scoop up!

Imagine spending the afternoon floating across the lake. Teaching your kids how to fish.
Jumping into the water. Spending the day eating cold fruit and big sandwiches while splashing through a big day in the sun. End of Summer Family Activities
If you’ve been waiting for the “perfect weekend,” consider this your reminder that it doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to happen.

Pack a Picnic and Head To The Playground
Best Family Parks In And Around Hamilton County
This may be my favorite idea because it costs very little, requires almost no planning, and creates some of the sweetest family memories.
Skip cooking dinner one evening...
Order pizza. Grab Chick-fil-A. Pick up sandwiches. Or pack peanut butter and jelly if that’s what works for your family.
Then head to your favorite playground and let the kids run until the sun begins to set.
Leave your phone in your bag. Push them on the swings. Play tag. Join them on the playground.

Here’s to one more sunset, one more scoop of ice cream, one more cannonball, and one more memory together. 💛
