The Knuth Family: A Real Family. A Real Night Out.
Some family sessions are filled with quiet moments. Others are filled with running feet, contagious laughter, and little personalities that simply can't be contained.
The Knuth family's summer mini session outside of Cicero, Indiana was definitely the second—and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
As a Cicero Indiana family photographer, one of my favorite things to remind parents is this: your children don't have to sit perfectly still or smile at the camera for every photo. In fact, I don't expect them to.
Now don't get me wrong... we'll still get that stoic family wall shot, but PLAY can be JUST AS VALUABLE during the session as any bribe, snack or promise of post session treat.
Real Families Are Always Welcome Here
If you've spent any time looking through my work, you've probably noticed something...
The kids are moving. They're laughing. They're being carried, snuggled, tickled, etc.
They're running through fields, giving hugs they didn't know were happening, and making their parents laugh right alongside them.
That's intentional.
Family photography isn't about creating or showing up with perfect children.
It's about preserving a very real season of life.
Summer Evenings Were Made for Family Photos
There's something magical about a midsummer evening in Indiana.
The sun hangs just a little longer in the sky, the breeze finally cools off after a warm day, and everything seems to slow down just enough for families to simply enjoy being together.
The Knuth family's session took place just outside of Cicero, surrounded by beautiful summer scenery that gave the kids plenty of room to explore while creating a relaxed backdrop for their family portraits.
Mini Sessions Don't Mean Mini Memories
One of the biggest misconceptions about mini sessions is that twenty minutes isn't enough time...
In reality, it's often the perfect amount of time if your looking for an simple update on family photos, needing a beautiful images for your Christmas Cards, the family has a crazy schedule and you need to quick pop-in or you want to capture today's memories but may be working with a smaller budget.
