Fall is officially upon us and I won’t lie it is one of my favorite times of year BUT NOT for the reason you might think.
From a work perspective, fall actually brings on a CRAZY work schedule as Mommas everywhere rush to get their family photos done in prime color. So from that angle – fall is WHACK-A-DOO. But why do I love it? Yes of course the color is beautiful – and with the new LOOOOOONNNNNG drive to school drop off multiple times a day now (did I mention it’s long? Lol) I am looking forward to the county roads getting that extra boost of beauty soon.
But why do I REALLY love it? October is MY BIRTHDAY of course!
So BRING ON THE CAKE Sis – because I’m NEVER one to turn down a trip to The Cake Bake Shop or even a family made cupcake. (Hello whipped icing!)
But yes FALL is also of course beautiful out here in the heartland of Indiana, which is why so many love it. Although southern Indiana gets to boast it’s hills in peak color, those of us here in central Indiana still get to enjoy the burst of autumn color about a week ahead of the south’s peak – really helping that color of the season last for sessions.
But what about when those trees haven’t changed yet or a big storm comes through and shakes the leaves off? Well Sis, I’m here to tell you another GREAT way to capture those fall vibes is to play with one of my FAVORITE locations spots: fall fields. Everyone always wants to go for the tree colors, but if you look around the fall brings about changes to far more than just the trees. Fields bloom with fall wildflowers and as the season changes so too does the light, making grassy tall fields look especially dreamy in all their caramel splendor!
For example, check out the Borgman fall family session we recently shot in September.
If you’re a Hoosier then you know well and good that September is WAY too early for the trees to change color around these parts, but that doesn’t mean that we’re out of luck – not by far!
Meeting out in the fields for a sunrise family session, Heather, Mitch and their family of four met me E-A-R-L-Y off a gravel drive to shoot. And man did the sunrise show off its stuff!
You might even recognize this couple and/or their kiddos from previous posts as they are one the families that have been with me since the beginning. Matter of fact, when I first met mom and dad here, when they pregnant with Micah and man does that make me feel old, today. lol. But enjoy - these kiddos are full of personality and the love that Heather and Mitch have built within their family clearly shines through in the morning light.
Curious about little Joey's sweet autumn bow? It's from the Mia + Grey Boutique a sweet little shop based out of Liberty, Indiana. Remember Sis, when you can - try to shop small, first.
